Brian Hambleton's WW2 story concerning his mother and a time bomb.
Fortitude
My mother was an air raid warden during WW 2 and was a practical woman, and living in Bermondsey was bombed out twice and on the second occasion it was a time bomb dropped in the front garden causing the front of the house to collapse, she went back to the house with her sister to retrieve her furniture, an air raid warden said "You cant go in there, there's a time bomb in the front garden and it could go off at any time" my mothers reply was "Adolf Bloody Hitler is not having my furniture" and they proceeded to clear out the flat. The bomb went off next day.
